CASK ALE AT THE QUEENS HEAD

The serving of a wide range of quality cask ales is at the forefront of business here at the Queens Head.

As a “Freehouse” we can choose any ales that we feel will be of enjoyment to our customers. We select ales across the full breadth of strengths (abv – alcohol by volume) and from breweries throughout the UK and even further. In 2003 we served a very enjoyable ale from Belgium.

As cask ales are still undergoing fermentation when they arrive here considerable care is taken to ensure that the ale is served in its best condition. Various members of the staff have undertaken professional and in-house training to help make sure you pint is at its best. Three of our team are members of CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale) and most of the team drink our ales.

Since the start of 2002 behind the bar records have been kept on all the ales served complimented by information from a variety of beer related sources and compiled into the Queens Head Beer Bible, which is available for customers to view.
Please talk to the staff, invariably there is at least one member on duty with in-depth knowledge of the ales.
In the UK there are over 2000 ales produced. We cannot hope to serve them all, in fact there are some that we would probably never serve. However we will endeavour to serve a wide selection, which we hope you will enjoy trying. Since our records began two years ago we have managed 214 so we’ve plenty more to try. As one of the customers commented “it’s like having a permanent beer festival in your own local.
